Payment and Tenancy Options

Here are the answers to some of your questions about payment options and tenancy periods when renting storage space from City Centre Storage in London Ontario.

Is there a minimum stay period?

You can pay on a weekly or monthly basis, your choice.

The minimum rental fee is for a one-week period. Of course, you don't need to occupy the unit for the whole week if you only need it for a few days. But your cost will not be prorated, it will still be the full weekly fee.

The same applies if you've chosen to pay by the month: your payment is always for the full monthly fee. You can, of course, move out whenever you want during any 30-day period, but your fee remains the same while you are on the monthly contract. Sorry, we don't issue refunds for any unused portion of your rental period.

Do I have to sign a lease?

No. You do sign a storage contract but it's not a lease, so you're not committing to a specific number of weekly or monthly cycles.

Can I switch from weekly to monthly or vice-versa?

Yes, just make your request before your payment is due.

What day is my storage rent due?

If you're on a weekly contract, your rent is due each week on the same weekday (by name) as the day you started your tenancy. For example, every Thursday.


If you're on a monthly contract, your rent is due each month on the same date (by number) as the date you started your tenancy. For example, on the 8th of each month.

Are there any penalties for late payment or bounced cheques?

Yes. There is a $20 charge for cheques that bounce due to Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF).

We do allow you a grace period of 5 days past the day your payment is due, but please make your payment as soon as you realize you're late. Late payment charges are as follows:

  • 6 days past due: $10 +GST
  • 14 days past due: $15 +GST
  • 1 month past due: $25 +GST

If the payment is late due to a problem on our end, the late fees would of course be waived.

How and where do I pay my bill?

We accept cash, cheques, Visa and MasterCard credit cards, and debit cards.

You have a choice of payment options:

  • Pay in person during office hours: Monday to Friday 9-5, Saturdays 9-3.
  • Send a cheque by postal mail.
  • Make a credit card payment by phone.
  • Set up automatic withdrawals from your bank account or credit card.
  • Make a payment on location at any time of day or night through the Insomniac ™ Kiosk. The kiosk will accept all forms of payment including cash but will not make change.
  • Login on our website to pay online with Visa or Mastercard.

How do I sign up to pay online?

If you're already renting a unit and you wish to pay online but don't yet have an online account, you can click the login link and register for one. On the secure server, you will be asked to create a password and security Q&A, and provide your email address, your storage unit number, and your gate access code or the last 7 digits of your phone number.
